Led by Master John, a 6th-degree black belt, and Master Abbie, a 5th-degree black belt, our academy has been recognised as Martial Arts School of the Year for three consecutive years. A legacy of excellence and achievement

​Mr John Edmiston – School Owner, Head Instructor
School Owner and Head Instructor since 19 January 1998, he leads One Mind with extensive experience in martial arts and fitness. A professional martial artist with more than 24 years of training and 25 years in Korean Martial Arts, he also holds a BSc in Sport Science, combining academic knowledge with practical expertise in exercise science and health. As a European, British, and Scottish Grand Champion, he continues to expand his knowledge through the study of Chinese medicine, including acupuncture and traditional herbs, supporting a holistic approach to martial arts development.

Mrs Abbie Edmiston – School Owner and Principal Lead Instructor
School Owner and Principal Lead Instructor since 19 January 2002, Sbn Abbie leads training and development at One Mind. She oversees instruction and supports students at every stage of their martial arts journey, helping maintain a structured and encouraging environment focused on discipline, confidence, and skill development.

​Mr Michael Pratt – Lead Instructor
Joined on 19 January 2007, Psbn Mike is a 3rd-degree black belt and Lead Instructor at One Mind. He supports student development through structured training and guidance, helping individuals build discipline, confidence, and martial arts skills within a supportive learning environment.

Ms Katelyn McGrotty – Instructor
Joined on 19 January 2010, Ksn Katelyn is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and one of the Lead Instructors at One Mind. She supports students through structured training and guidance, helping them develop discipline, confidence, and strong martial arts skills in a positive learning environment.

Chris Ewen
